My preconceived notions of the class were that we would be exploring issues data systems specific to human services, what ever that meant. I did not however think that we would have covered the topics we did. That being said I have taken away information and skills I didn't have before attending class.
Having classmate that were at verious levels of computer literacy was also helpful. Interacting with classmates allowed me to pay closer attention to the proper way of performing certain task. I have, for the most part been self taught, through trial and error. Once I learned that the computer would only do what I told it to I was free to explore. Let's not forget about the end user's best friend the "undo" button.
In conclusion, I don't feel like the class was a waste of time. Class actually put my knowledge of basic computer skills to test, which again was good for me. There were however moments when your instruction got off track and therefore becoming distracting. I am also finding the text book to be a valuable resource. I have used the information already in practicle application at work. All in all its been an ok experience.

I didn't have any preconceived notions of the class. I expected the class to teach me about computers in some capacity and it did. Since I only had basic computer skills the class was very informative.
My classmates were very supportive with helping me with any questions I might have. I particularly enjoyed learning about the different functions that can be performed in powerpoint. The book helped me explore that version of software.
I sometimes found myself drifting off in class when you would suddenly change the topic from computers to things that were going on in your personal life, but usually I was able to come back when you came back. To wrap it up I would say the class has been a learning experience.
My preconceived notions aboit this class were that it would be a piece of cake. I am not the best at working with computers but I am okay. My initial thought was, this one is going to be easy. I thought that we would just be going over things that I already had an idea of what to do.
When we had our first class I thought I wasn't feeling very well but I was able to keep up with everything that Professor Howard was saying. It made my initial thought even stronger. Then when he showed us how he wanted us to the the excel spreadsheet I did it my way and learned I should have done how he wanted it so I could "make it work".
So, now that class is ending I feel confident that my overall performance is this class was good. It wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be and I have definately taken away somethings from this class that I can apply to many other things outside of this class. It wasn't quite what I expected but I enjoyed it.

My preconceive notion about the class was that for me it was going to be a difficult class since I had little kmowledge about computers therefore I really didn't know what to expect. However I felt that taking the class would give me a better understanding of computers, especially when the percentage of my time would be spent using the computer not just for college work, but home usage as well.
What made this class very interesting and rewarding was the patience and time that was taken to explain the various issues that we encounter throughout the use of the data systems. I differently gain a clearer understanding of how to perform task such as the merging of business letters/invitatons, spread sheets, and the use of my best friend the un-do bottom, which is something I rarely used before this class.
I differenlty don't feel that this class was a waste, because there is so much one can learn, whether they are knowledgeable about computers or not. However I do feel that the text book was somewhat difficult to understand, and that some of the excerses could have been performed in class for a clearer understand of pre-class assignments.

My preconceive notion about the class was that by the end of the course, I would learn how to do web designing and pc repair. The reason for this is that I would like to start my own business soon and web designing would be needed. The business would be considered small business, and with the economy at its worst, I would need every penny to run the business. I may not have the money to pay someone to do the job of web designing. I also may not have the money to pay someone to always repair my computers if something goes wrong.
Before reading the syllabus for this class, I was hoping that whatever this class had to offer would benefit me in the future. I was also hoping that I could use some of the skills taught in this class to perform my job in a timelier manner. What I mean by this is that I do a lot of reporting on many clients and services provided to them. Learning the introduction to Excel has helped me to be more knowledgeable in using Excel to do this. Also, learning Advance Excel has also made my job easier.
Besides being able to apply these skills on the job, I am able to apply them to my own household activities. I am able to make schedules, itemizing my bills, make list of chores for the rest of the family which includes; dates, times, what kind chores, and who is doing the chores. It has been fun because no one can complain that they didn’t understand what needed to be done. The required textbook is an excellent book. It has made the course easier for me. I feel at this time that I have benefited from this class and that it was not a waste of my time.

My preconceived notion when i was assigned to this class, was great! I'll finally get to learn the fundamental function of the computer. Since my job did not require extensive computer use, I felt that their was no need to explore beyond the minimum stuff.
This class has offered many expansion to my world of computer literacy from hardware representation and desktop icons function. Mail merge may become my best friend in the near future for job search. I don't think I'll be using spreadsheet formulas, but it was intriguing to experience.
In closing, my thoughts are, since starting Springfield College I became more computer friendly and unafraid to explore programs and application that are not familiar. This class has been beneficial in building that confidence through information gained and applied. Hey classmates a little humor doesn't hurt.

I believe so
My perceived notion of this class was that we were going to learn difficult computer programs that I have never touched on. Although we did learn about the different programs which do help me specifically with my job and as well in my personal life (hint)such as excel. I thought it was fun, easy to understand and the classromm setting was comfortable.
Although Professor Howard explained everything in detal I think, in my opinion, some members of the class was taking advantage of his fun teaching approach and when confronted about things such as our assignments, I found that their were always a bunch of excuses.
In conclusion, I gained knowledge of the programs that we learned. I will apply these new skills of mine to my everyday life, since I find myself on the computer all the time. I could not of asked for a better class starting my new journey here at Springfield.
Have a nice holiday and a happy new year!!!
My preconcieved notion of this class is that we were going to discuss and learn things that pertained to Human Services. However I did learn some things that I didnt know before I entered this class such as the undo button, how to crate a blog, and mail merge. Some of the assigments we were given were difficult because we never went over it in class in detail, but whenever I had questions the Professor was available.
I dont think this class was a waste of time because I am leaving with more knowledge of computers than I came in with.

There were alot of times I was very discouraged.
I did enjoy this class because it helped me overcome some of my fears of computers.I dont know if I will use anything I learned at my place of employment or in my personal life but at least I have knowledge of it.
I wouldnt say this class was a waste of time because I am leaving the class with more knowledge than I walked in with.
This data class has been beneficial. However, I just went through this same course this past summer. Accomplishing the assignments was not really a hard task for me. My main issue is that I had computer problems at home which hampered me alot.
I feel the Mr. Howard is very knowledgable of computers and is willing to help students succeed to the fullest. I commend him for his knowledge, expertise and professionalism. Mr. Howard's class is very fun to attend he makes you feel welcomed and enthused to learn. I have certainly enjoyed this class, I wish I would have applied myself more, but I am satisfied with the results thus far.
With today's workforce, technology is very vital in the workplace. I feel that data systems is very important in our daily work functions as well home use. Having the knowledge of how to use and maintain computers is essential. When you come across you a problem and you are able to solve them on your own is a plus. You save yourself lots of money. I give this course high marks, it not helps me but my family and co peers as well.

I had no preconceived notions about this class. I wanted to keep my mind open to what ever was introduced to me and learn it. I hindered my progress in this class because I missed the first day session and I seem to be for-ever catching up.
Some of my class mates were helpful with any questions that I had about the assignments or how to approach the assignments.
Mr. Howard is very knowledgeable about computers and their hundreds of applications.
I will conclude this blog by stating I am struggling somewhat with some of these areas. I hope that I will not have to repeat this class. (Nothing personal Mr Howard)

My preconceived notion was that this would be a course in which I would be able to further develop my thesis. Last quarter Dr. Little John gave me and my classmates a choice between your class Professor Howard and a course offered by a new instructor. We choose the computer course because we thought it would be the most beneficial.
Yes, I do believe that this course was beneficial because I was able to obtain new skills, and develop a new found respect for the computer and its many functions. Also our class size played a major factor. Having our professor provide some much individual teaching time was no doubt to our benefit.
Lastly, I do believe this course has a lot to offer and individuals can gain powerful computer knowledge that’s sure to help them in the future. However, with that said I do wish that we could have focused more time working in Excel. Excel is an difficult software to grasp, and for the type of work we do beside word, excel would probably be the most useful.

Take a look at my blog .
This is how you melt with me
This is how you link to your blog.
My pre-conceived notions about this class is that the professor will be teaching us more than the basic information about computers. In addition to features that people probably see daily, but ignore. I see plenty of features on the computer and never take the time to explore how to use them. There is so much to learn when it comes to computers.
As a matter of fact, most people use computers everyday not taking advantage of many features that probably would better assist them. I am one of those people so I am looking forward to learning new things. Technology changes so often that I feel priviledged to have the opportunity to gain new computer information. Learning is such a beneficial tool for life.
I do think that I need this class because I haven't had a computer class since my undergraduate classes. The computer class was very beneficial. I will be taking a new position once I complete school in April. Therefore, computer skills is an added bonus to all of the other knowledge and skills that I've gained at Springfield. Needless to say, I think this class will be very beneficial.

My knowledge of video is limited, and my expereinces are brief. Back in the early 1990's I purchaded a video camera (quite dated when it comes to current technology) to document and record a trip to California. I ended up using my video camera to video parites, events, and other functions for about two years. I never had much luck when it came to taking care of equipment, and eventually my video camera became subjected to age. I have not used my video camera in several years, and I have not purchased any modern cameras of the twenty-first century.
I do not have any real pre-conceptions or notions about taking the class 'Introduction to Community Video', except for finding the topic to be interesting. In a world becoming more and more advanced and technical, I feel an education on community video could be highly educational. I feel I am pretty lost when it comes to today's technology, especially when it comes to computers and video. I can barely operate the camera on my cell phone, and I still have no clue how to text messgage. Education is never a waste of time, and I feel taking this class will only improve my knowlege and expereince.
I enjoyed playing around with my old video camera, and I think it will be a lot of fun to learn more about the operation of current video recording. I have had one computer class since returning to colelge, and although it was frustrating and intimidating at times, I really learned a lot of useful information which I could apply to my professional and academic careers. I am looking foward to class and learning more about community video.

Good Afternoon,
I feel very excited about been in your class, since I like computers. I am always eager to learn new things, especially now days since the world is so technological and most things is base on computers. Understanding the computer system is essential and necessary, in the field of Human Services and for school as well. My current knowledge of computer is basis to moderate, searching the web and different methods of communication thought the computer has allowed me to expand my knowledge and to navigate more comfortable.
Looking forward to learn new things this coming semester in you class, things for example, like how the media works, how to create a data system which I can follow more like a table. In addition to learn any new things that has changed since I had a technology class back in my first semester of undergrad. The textbook seems interesting and simple to follow.
By saying this, I can wait for the first class, and I know that everything you teach will be beneficial for me not only in my current job or school but at home as well. In addition learning the components and navigation system can help me open an online business as an independence business owner, since I have one and I haven’t been able to start working on it.

I think this class is needed to enhance and build on the groundwork of my computer knowledge. Going forwarded, I would like to accomplish how to create a excel spread sheet, the formula for a spread sheet, how to scan a document and send via email attachment and how to create a web page. Keeping in mind some jobs require detailed knowledge of particular software, while others require basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Nonetheless with the skills mention above, it will make the difference between success and failure within the work place.
I look forward in obtaining other skills as I encounter this class. I have no preconceived notions about what I will obtain. I feel the knowledge I will obtain, will make me resourceful and competitive within employment market; in addition to, an increase in salary. Either way, once I have the foundation I need, I will succeed.
My knowlege pertaining to video production is very limited: however, taking this class is something that I feel will be interesting because it will enable me to utilize the two video cameras that I own and know nothing about.
In, addition, Iam very interested in knowing how video peoduction ties into Human Services and how I can incorporate the use of video into any future endeavors that I may take on to bring creativity to the audience in which I serve in my career.
Currently, I am not that computer savy as I would like to be, so I trust that taking this course, will not only equip me to operate the use of video equipment more effectively. Also,I aspire to acquire more in dept, hands on experience about the use of computer technology.

I am not familiar with the whole blogging thing as of yet, I am sitting home playing around with this and after I posted my paragraphs for the class assignment, I discovered some typo's, is there anyone who explain how to edit? Anyway, I wanted my original post to go as followed:
