The Pre/Post Expectations for the data systems class that I had are pretty basic. I felt it would be helpful to me to learn the basic operating programs. I never had any formal training with computers so it would be helpful to learn the what each thing is on the toolbar and other programs. I would also have liked to review cut and paste, header, footer blogs and just as a refresher.
It was very helpful for me to learn power point. I know I will need this throughout the stay at Springfield. It will also be helpful for me in my work because we often do parent education workshops. I can now present a lesson with using power point. The mail merge lesson was helpful but I don`t feel I will have much use for it. I enjoyed Professor Howards teaching style. He addded humor with his lessons. He didn`t make the classes boring. However , the excel lesson was very over whelming and I probally won`t ever use it.
Over all starting with basic start up, how to delete items on word 2007 and other functions in word 2007 would have been helpful. I have word 2007 at home and it can be confusing to work with for me. As I stated earlier I have no formal training in computers, just what I have learned from my co-workers. I think that power point was the most helpful for me. Thanks Susan
Hello again. I also wanted to acknowledge that another very important lesson that was taught was the cover letter and memo writing. I felt that was very helpful. Thanks Susan
Initially, I thought the administration needed to create a class to cover a last minute dropped course. Yes, I believed this course was a waste of my money, and I addressed administration.
On the contrary, the course proved me wrong. I was able to utilize the new information I learned to
formulate a better powerpoint presentation. In addition,I'm using excel to make my life easier on the job. Previously I was intimated by excel!
Honestly, the class was a benifit to a degree. Administration formed an opinion that the class would benifit Grad students with the thesis project. That did not happen!
Nevertheless, Professor Howard is a joy. I really enjoyed the class!

I signed up fot the class not knowing what to expect. it sounded like something that would be beneficial. i thought that microsoft 2003 was outdated. Boy was i wrong about the whole situation. The learning had just began. Once in the class i learned that i did not know exsisted. I learned how to make my powerpoint presentations easier. It helped make my powerpoint for Dr. Littljohn simple. This class helped me prepare for anything.
I am glad that i took the class. I would recommend it to everyone who attends Springfield College. Mail merge, powerpoint, and excel spreadsheets are things that i can use everyday. I am assisting my fiance' this weekend put in a hyperlink in her powerpoint. I know without this class i would not know what hyperlink was. Professor Howard thank you sir!! Continue your expertise and teaching style and is unique and fun.

I must say when I first stepped foot into your class I thought it was going to be very easy. I registered for this course because I thought it was going to be an easy “A”. After I read the syllabus and realized I work on many of these programs on the course outline daily, I thought I would not have a problem in various areas like Excel or Microsoft word. I have to admit, I ‘m not the best when it comes to working with technology especially computers, but I thought I would not have to put forth much effort in this class because of my background and the work I currently do. I sure was wrong on many levels especially when I thought I had the class in the bag.
I quickly came to realize that I was not as computer savvy as I thought when it came to computer jargon. Things like concatenate, quick link, hyperlink, and merging documents have become apart of my daily use in the office, school, and at home on various projects. I even found myself teaching my class mates that do not have this computer course the number of things I have learned and passing on to them. I recently used the formulas I learned in Excel and applied it to a presentation I did in my Research and Evaluation course. Typing in the formula in Excel and letting the program work for me cut down on time, and allowed me to paste my information in PowerPoint.
This class has been a great help to me, and all its components. This class should continue to be held at Springfield, as it was beneficial to me in several area of my work life.
ok ok.... I got it. Thank GOD .I'm sure your saying the same thing
I thought that this class was a very good class, because of the things that I was taught. This course was much more informative then the one I had when I was an undergraduate student. However this same course is being taught to me on my job at the NJDOC. we are able to sign out for any of the computer system courses for Free. (that means that no money will have to come out my pocket). However, Prof. Howard you are a excellent teacher and know your stuff and that what make the class some fun. I also belive that our class need to seprate from other people who uses the lab when you are teaching which causes interuptions, but over all this class should not be offered on the Graduate level
Thank You
DeWitt
to continue my messae was cut off.
I stronger course should offer at the undergad level. However, again this course was needed tdur to the fact that Prof Littlejohn was not happy with some of the powerpoint presentation that were made by some of the grad student. Over all I truely think that it is a good class.

My pre class expectations for this class was to learn the basic functions of Excel, Power Point, and any other program, that may be conducive to the Human Service field. I always assumed Excel and Power Point were tedious operations. Since the second class, I understand the basic functions a lot more. In my line of work, I was never trained on the basic programs to create worksheets, slides, or any other Microsoft 2004 components. I've always relied on someone else to do the work for me, but thanks to Professor Howard, I rely on his teachings, and recommended readings.
Since I've been in the class, I've learned how to create a daily check list, which is used in my program daily. I've learned how to print with, and/or without gridlines. I am more comfortable with creating simple documents used by my agency. I am no longer intimidated by the cells, rows, and/or columns, when creating a worksheet.
I conducted a training using a power point presentation. I learned how to,by the steps taught by profeeor Howard. Power point was really simple. That was another task I thought would be tediuos, but I found it to be simple. It's almost like creating a document on Microsfot Word. My post expectaions of this class is to use Excel to its fullest extent, when applicable. I want to continue to feel confident when creating any/all documents on Excel. I will no longer use MicrsoftWord, and it's fonts, to creat a document. I will use power point whenever applicable, and train others, so that the steps remain with me. My post expectations of this class, is to incorporate all that I've learned, into my work life, since the education I received in this course, is, beneficial.

Having a computer class in your graduate career is vital to your development. For one, it allows the individual to learn more about computers and web access. I know for my position, being able to navigate the computer system is extremely vital to my development.
In this class I would have like to learn more about the internet and web development. I as never able to fully develop my own website and I think that would be a great assest tool.
Overall I enjoyed my class. I like the fact that I was able to learn some things about mail merge and powerpoint. I am cetain that these programs will come in handy

The Pre/Post Expectation for data systems . This like a refresher and it will help me at Springfield College Thanks
As an undergraduate student here at Springfield College having the opportunity to gain more knowledge in any unfamiliar educational course is essential to my life’s journey. Whenever I am forced to step into the unfamiliar in education I immediately become overwhelmed with the idea of change. Nevertheless, that’s always when I hear my grandmother saying, “The only thing consistent is change". After I embrace the concept of change the fear of the unfamiliar is than mentally exchanged to the acceptance of change. Once the mental exchange has taken place in me pre and post expectations are elevated from my mental and in turn I journey on to embrace another unfamiliar course in my educational journey. Hence, I have enjoyed this course and today I am exiting this course with yet another tool to my educational tool belt.

As requirment for graduation, I needed to take Data Systems. I would have taken it as an elective. Before entering the class I had minimal computer skills. I expected to learn the basic use of Microsoft products, and how to apply them to my business, school and to my personal life. I also looked forward to learning how to quickly navigate through the Internet for research and to communicate with others.
Since enrolled, I am very excited about what I have learned. I have learned the functions and use of Microsoft office products and other useful tools of the computer. The class was very detailed and the instuctor was very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions on, and off the present subject matter. I felt very confident about what I learned after leaving class. The homework assignments were appropriate for the class lesson plan and reinforced what I had learned.
I think the selected text was very useful and an excellent choice. Data Systems was very beneficial to me personally, in school and on my job. What I have learned is beyond what I had expected. I plan to use the text for quick refernce when needed and use what I have been taught as much as possible.
